What do you do in your store to nurture your community?
In our community, Blue Ridge Adventure Wear continually provides donations to any and all fundraising events, including student clubs, sports teams, animal rescue/ humane societies, and anything benefiting anyone that requires a prize or award of some sort. In addition, money is given to Fannin sports fields, Blue Ridge Community Theater, the Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association and for academic scholarships for Fannin High School and Mountain Education Charter High School. Iaddi Blue Ridge Adventure Wear has also supported the North Georgia Women’s Crisis Center by adopting and refurbishing a bedroom and providing fleece jackets to all the women residents at Christmas time for the past seven years. Events such as Light Up Blue Ridge, the Fourth of July parade and the Halloween Safe Zone are huge commitments on the part of many of the businesses in Blue Ridge, including ours. Planning meetings start months before each event and require many hours of dedicated time to pull these activities together. These have benefited the local community as well as visiting tourists to our area
What trend do you see in your indie business that you’re excited about?
As a small town community, we are growing as a tourist destination. And, several small towns in our area are also taking advantage of this and re-energizing their retail space.
What’s the best advice you can share that will apply to everyone?
Pay attention to your customers and don’t lose the connection to your community.
What’s something you feel people should do more of?
In retail, it is a matter of establishing personal relationships. Customers are coming to a store for the experience; they cannot get that on-line. They want to be surprised and delighted by what’s being offered, what the environment/atmosphere is, and the personal connection.

We have just expanded to our third store. We will be working to make this a success.
What’s a success you’d love to see someone close to you achieve?
Our son works at our store. We have watched him learn the business and hope that he will continue to want to manage it.
What’s been one of the most pleasant experiences of running your business/your job?
Meeting new people and seeing good reviews on-line saying it is the best store in Blue Ridge, GA.
