A friend introduced me to the concept of geocaching a few years ago, but I have never actually participated in finding a "stash". For those of you who are new to geocaching, it is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. The container always contains a logbook or logsheet for you to log your find. Larger containers will contain objects left behind by someone who found it prior. In this case you can choose to take the object just as long as you leave something of equal or greater value in return. That's what makes it a treasure hunt! It's a fun family outing, especially for kids, big kids too! If this sounds like something you want to try, geocaching.com is the place to get you started. You'll be finding treasures in no time! If you're an expert geocacher, perhaps you have some pointers or stories to share with others just starting out. Happy hunting!
