"They inspire you, they entertain you, and you end up learning a ton even when you don't know it" - Nicholas Sparks
Did you ever have a teacher that made an impact on your life? Someone who pushed your boundaries? Challenged you to see things in a different way? Or changed the course of your life because they truly inspired you? These are the teachers that spend countless hours shaping, educating, and preparing students for the world. They celebrate simple successes, and help students overcome their weaknesses, working tirelessly, passionately, and without end. My mother was a teacher for 29 years, she even taught me a time or two. She was the kind of teacher that helped those that needed extra guidance, or support. She encouraged a number of students who thought they had no chance of going to college to apply. Most of them ended up receiving scholarships, grants, or financial aid and were able to attend. My mom was a fair teacher, as she treated me like any other student. She gave me C's and D's on my not so well written english papers, returning them with massive red marks, which my sister and I referred to as "bloody chickens". She showed no mercy when it came to my sister and I, which I am grateful for, as I wouldn't have learned as much had she been more lenient on me. My mom affected so many lives, probably more than she realizes. She definitely affected mine. This goes out to all teachers - thank you for your hard work, dedication, and countless hours in and outside the classroom - you are truly appreciated!
